Tour Description

The lost city tour (or Ciudad Perdida in Spanish) is one of the most incredible site of Colombia. The Matchu Pitchu of Colombia as they call it, located in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta . The only way of reaching this archeologic site is through a 4 days trekking or by chopper. First trecks to Ciudad Perdida, where made few years after its discovery became public in 1972 to protect the the site from  illegal excavations and looters in search of the hidden treasures of the Tayrona culture.

Departure: 9am at Colombian Riders Base

1st Day

  • 08:00 Meet up at “Parq de los Novios” in Santa Marta (in Front of Restaurant Radio Burger)
  • 10:30 am: departure in a truck car to Machete Pelao, lunch time, information about first day.
  • 12:30: the hike will start, 7 km walking in average to the first camp called Adam or Alfredo.
  • In this place you will  sleep in hammock or bed (both with mosquito nets) & you have a natural swimming pool to enjoy the end of the day, after dinner there is a general information or peasant history and the guide talk about the itinerary of the next day.

2nd Day

  • 05:30 Wake up at sunrise, breakfast time.
  • 06:00 we leave the farmer region to go to the indigenous region, in this second part will walk 2 hours and 30 minutes before arrive to the 2sd camp for lunch called Wiwa camp, you will have time for enjoy the river and a wonderful waterfall.
  • 08:00 Break, Watermelon & other fruits to enjoy the view.
  • 12:00 Lunch time.
  • 13:00 A walking that will take about 4 hours to the Paraiso camp, place where we will sleep the second night.
  • 17:00 We arrive to Paraiso camp.
  • 19:00 Dinner time.

3rd Day

  • 5:30 Breakfast arepas and fruits.
  • 06:00 we will depart for the last part of the climbing. About 2 hours to get in the Lost city where will be around 2 or 3 hours knowing all the archeological place, in this trail there are 1.200 steps in rock originals from the Tayrona culture.
  • 7:45: Lost City.
  • 10:00 return to Paraiso camp for lunch.
  • 12:00 return to Wiwa camp for sleep there.
  • 17:00 cultural exchange with the native people (optional and this plan could change).
  • 19:00 Dinner time

4th Day

  • 05:30 Breakfast time.
  • 06:15 Start the walking to go back.
  • 7:30 Break and fruits.
  • 09:00 Other break for relax in rivers.
  • 09:20 Return to Machete Pelao to finish the tour.
  • 12:00 Final Lunch break in Machete Pelao.
  • 16:00 Back to Santa Marta in 4×4

    • Hicimos un Tour de 2 días y 1 noche, en moto por los caminos de Minca y de su sierra, y por Tayrona para hacer un poco de surf. Pasamos noche en hámacas a 1300m.     • Il faisait assez chaud mais nous avons vraiment passé une excellente journée. Le choix des activités est assez large, plutôt sportif. Adrien parle espagnol, anglais et français (pour les autres langues je ne sais pas) ce qui permet une excellente communication quelque soient les membres du groupe. Vraiment super !
